You Know You're a Medical Student When...

...you can name all the muscles in your hand, but not the Presidents .

...your life consists of three parts: studying, drinking, and sleeping.

...you've thought something along the lines of, "what's another $10,000 in loans?"

...you consistently tell people that they just don't understand how bad it really is.

...the drama in your life now is worse than it ever was in high school.

...Grey's Anatomy, House, Scrubs, Dr. 90210, Nip/Tuck, and ER are your favorite shows, but you point out all the wrong things in them all the time.

..you have diagnosed yourself and others with at least 5 rare diseases.

...you refer to the authors of your text books as if you know them personally. "Yeah, Netter and I spent the weekend together."

...the best part of your day consists of breaking in a new highlighter.

...you refer to those semesters of organic chemistry in undergrad as "The Good Old Days."

You Know You're Married to a Student Doctor When...

…you open up your sewing box and find sutures

…you can’t watch a medical show without hearing complaints about everything they are doing wrong

…you can’t be in the bathroom when he/she is washing their hands without getting sprayed by the “doctor shake” when they are done

…you tell him/her that they are getting on your last nerve and they draw an accurate picture of a nerve with a little stick person on it

…you find yourself constantly washing scrubs and white coats

…your house is littered with office supplies bearing the names of various pharmaceuticals

…you can’t complain of a scratchy throat without having a tongue depressor shoved in your mouth and your spouse looking at you from behind a tiny light

We're Going to be an Aunt and Uncle!!

We are very excited to announce that Angela's brother Billy and his wife Mandy are expecting their first child on October 6, 2008! This will be the first grandchild, and Dad and Cindy are already brainstorming to decide what their grandparent names will be. This picture is from Mandy's first ultrasound on Valentine's Day. Baby Geeslin is small, but we can already tell he or she is going to be pretty darn cute!

DCOM SAA Halloween Event

For Halloween, the DCOM Student Advocate Association held a fundraiser at Haymaker Farms, a local venue here in Tennessee. Here we are with a few of our friends. If you can't tell, we're Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley. We are donning our authentic Hogwarts robes and a wand that Ben carved himself! Ben's mouth is full here, you know where there is free food he's always eating!

Ben's White Coat

We are quite behind on our posts! Here is a picture of Ben on the day of his White Coat Ceremony. The White Coat Ceremony is a tradition at medical schools across the country. The first year students receive a white coat to mark their entrance into the study of medicine. Doesn't he look handsome?
